Toi Whakaari: New Zealand Drama School is a tertiary provider, training professionals in stage, screen and the performing arts.

To us, Crew Wellington is a resource for students to further develop skills and gain experience in the film industry by offering voluntary labour for professional practitioners.

Alice Pardoe 3rd year

Interested in Assistant Director roles

I am interested in furthering my knowledge of the role of an AD and how they work within an AD team and within the wider production team. I would also like to learn on-set skills, mainly related to how a shoot is organised and run, and how this is different to in studio and on location shooting. Learning skills in helping with a film or TV shoot. I’m mainly interested in the on-set work, but also organisation relating to a production board and shooting schedule.

Amy Louise Mill 2nd year

Interested in production management, art department, sound department and assistant director

I would like to grow my knowledge and experience in the film and television industry. My interests are in gaining work experience in the production, art and sound departments and assistant director roles. I would like to observe how a production team is run, their key relationships and to be able to see the structures and processes needed to move the production through its pre, during and post stages. I am also interested in how the arts department is run and more specifically props management – sourcing, creating the props needed and how this is done in relationship to the art director/designers. I am also curious in the opportunity to explore the sound departments working in ADR, foley and sound effect departments. I am hardworking and reliable with a positive attitude. I have my full New Zealand driver’s license and a car so access to different locations in and out of Wellington is not an issue.

Remma McArdle 2nd year

Interested in assistant directing, production management, location management

I am interested in getting knowledge and experience in Assistant Directing, Production Management or Location Management for film, as this is not an area offered at Toi Whakaari but I am curious about these roles and what they could be for me. I have a background in dance and performing arts, a full New Zealand driver’s license and a great attitude to work and play.
